A Cup of Jo!

Have you...

...seen us on A Cup of Jo?

Thank you to Lina and Joanna for being completely lovely throughout the entire process.  We were relieved to discover that we adore A Cup of Jo even more now than before. (You know how it's super scary to meet someone you've admired from afar?  I'm always afraid that I'll be so disappointed. We can assure everyone that these two are a-okay and more.)

Keep reading each Monday for a new story of American mothers raising their families abroad!

  5. New follower. You're living my dream! I was in Peace Corps with a woman who (with her husband) was raising her two kids in Kinshasa -- but she just left. Kelly was her name.

Anyway, looking forward to reading more and looking through your archive. I was in PC in Cameroon.. I'd love to come back to west/central Africa (SOON if I had the opportunity!) but haven't been able to find a career route in. Hopefully in time!

  6. Found you though a Cup of Jo - your post was amazing. My husband is from the Congo and just came to the States - I sent the article to him and it's the first time in a long time that someone had something nice to say about his home. We will definitely be reading your blog!

  9. Since I read the post on Cup of Jo I have been devouring your blog! I rarely spend so much time going back to read old posts on new-to-me blogs, but seriously. The past two nights I have been glued to my computer. I also forwarded all your posts about maternal healthcare to my sister (a l&d nurse) and told her to go help all the women in the Congo. :)

  10. I loved your write-up on Cup of Jo. I keep thinking about how you said your kids don't waste food. It's my major peeve about my almost-3-year-old--and we don't cave to demands for something different or anything like that. I guess he must be hungry a lot of the time, but he's stubborn. I've always wondered how parents in cultures where food is more expensive and scarce handle it, because this kind of behavior is just explained (in the US) as one of those stages everyone goes through.

  11. Hello, also discovered your blog through Cup of Jo. Officially addicted. I've been reading loads of your posts and I'm enjoying discovering the Congolese culture through your eyes. I'm also an expat and, despite the fact that I live in a highly developed country, I find I have a number of things in common with your lives. I'll enjoy following your stories.

  13. Well it took me entire week...but I have officially caught up on your entire blog! Embarrassing to admit, perhaps, but I couldn't pull myself away. You guys are so great, going back through all the links and your posts has been mesmerizing! Can't wait to follow along! Also, you two often mention a certain someone as the holy grail or queen of bloggers, but I find mama Congo 100x more entertaining, realistic, open eyed, and balanced. Thank you!

    Love from California,
